Saaiman: a son of Athlone

■ “I have some of the best memories of my life growing up in Athlone, says Chad. “I went to pre-school, primary school, high school and church in the area and I’ve met some of my best friends during this time. It was at the Astro turf where I played my first game of soccer at the age of seven, I remember scoring three goals. It was at Garlandale High School where I sang for the first time and that’s worked out pretty well. It was at the Joseph Stone where I got paid to sing for the first time (it wasn’t much, but was amazing). Some of my family members still live in the area and I try and visit when I can. My latest single, Nights, touches on my youth in growing up in Athlone, and in Cape Town in general so the area will always have a special place in my heart”.
