Rio Grande Primary School in Manenberg hosted an awards ceremony and event to raise awareness about HIV/ Aids on World Aids
Day, Friday December 1. Acting principal, Kader Barendse, informed the pupils about the HIV virus and related Aids illnesses. Candles were lit to commemorate those affected and infected by the virus. Teacher Kevin Dyssel co-ordinated the event and Kim Quickfall, youth pastor from the St James Trust, delivered a spiritual message. The pupils contributed in the form of spiritual dancing, hip hop dancing, poems and the school choir was also part of the entertainment line-up.
