A three-week-old baby was abandoned on a Lansdowne street last week.
The baby boy – fully clothed and wrapped in a baby blanket – was found on the pavement in front of a house in St Joseph Road, at about 7am, on Monday December 11.
Lansdowne police spokesman, Sergeant Nkululeko Mnyaka, said the baby was taken to hospital for a check-up before being placed in foster care.
Provincial Department of Social Development spokeswoman, Esther Lewis, said the baby was in good health.
Police are investigating security-camera footage in the hope it can identify the person who abandoned the baby.
“Don’t just dump your child,” said Sergeant Nkululeko. “Speak to one of the nurses at the hospital, and there are social workers you can speak to.”
