Athlone North Primary School hosted a fund-raiser to benefit the Christine Revell Children’s Home as part of its Mandela Day initiative. The school bought plain sponge cakes for each class, and the pupils decorated the cakes. The winning class, Grade 1H, could eat their cake while the others sold them. Some Grade 5, 6 and 7 girls also did a cultural dance tribute to Tata Madiba. The pupils and teachers were also challenged to do the Madiba shuffle. A candle was lit in memory of Tata Madiba.
