The Heideveld Holiday Club will be keeping children busy during the school holidays.
The club started more than 20 years ago and was the brainchild of the Scripture Union non-profit organisation and the Great Commission church in Heideveld, said Karen Meyer, coordinator of the club.
The club offered the children somewhere safe to play, have something to eat and get in touch with spirituality while their parents worked during the holidays, she said.
“Seeing a child being a child and having fun in a community space is what motivates us. We have crazy songs, play ‘follow the leader’, share bible stories, have some fruit, and lunch, and this year, we’ve introduced life skills as well. We also have guest speakers speaking about safety and life skills, and we end the day off with asking them what they’ve learnt.”
The holiday programme will run from the Great Commission church in Heideveld from Monday June 24 to Friday June 28 for children in Grade R to Grade 7.
