Manenberg police arrested a 26-year-old man for the illegal possession of R300 000 worth of crayfish on Friday January 20.
When police searched a residence in the area, they discovered 2 543 undersized crayfish tails and 73 whole crayfish. The man was arrested and was due to appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court on Monday January 23.
On the same day, police arrested a 48-year-old man and two women, 25 and 35, for the possession of various drugs worth R100 000.
The arrest was made at a house in Johanna Court, Manenberg.
According to Captain Ian Bennett, spokesman for Manenberg SAPS, the information was received by the Nyanga stabilisation unit of suspected drug dealing in Johanna Court at the address of a known drug dealer and gang leader. The drugs included 106 units of tik,100g of uncut tik, 65 ecstacy tablets, 189 mandrax tablets, and five packets of uncut heroin worth R30 000.
It was discovered that the 48-year-old man had also contravened his parole condition which will see him serving the rest of his sentence in prison.
The suspects were due to appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court for the possession of drugs on Monday January 23.
