Seven people were arrested for various offences during a crime prevention operation in the Heideveld area on Saturday September 7.
During the patrol, close to Katrina Court, metro police officers noticed three men who were acting suspicious.
When the officers approached them, one of them produced a firearm and pointed it at the officers.
The officers fired before he could shoot which caused him to run.
The officers pursued him on feet. He was cornered seconds later.
They searched him and found a CZ85 pistol with the serial number filed off and 14 x 9mm live rounds of ammunition.
The 37-year-old suspect was arrested for the possession of a firearm, live ammunition, resisting arrest and pointing a firearm.
Further crime prevention patrols in Manenberg led to the arrest of six more suspects between the ages of 25 and 30 for the illegal possession of controlled substances and ammunition.
A total of 19 x 9mm live rounds of ammunition, 22 x 4 half mandrax, two tik straws, 4 crushed mandrax, 4 packets of tik and 25 dagga stoppe.
All the suspects were detained at the Manenberg police station.
