Two men were arrested after they were found in possession of illegal firearms in Heideveld yesterday.
City’s Rain Enforcement Unit officers, who were patrolling next to the railway line, saw two men trying to hide.
The officers approached the duo. One of the men threw something over a wall.
The officers searched the men and then checked the yard where they discarded the object.
Metro police spokesperson, Wayne Dyason, said: “The officers found two firearms in the yard. The two were arrested for the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.”
Two firearms and two magazine with five live 9mm rounds were recovered.
The suspects were taken to the Manenberg police station. Â
