Gerald Williams, 75, from Bonteheuwel is looking to reconnect with his daughter whom he last saw in the 1970s.
His daughter, Angeline Theresa Fredericks, was born on November 23 1968 at the then Cape Peninsula District Six Hospital.
After they were forced to move from their home in District Six, which was subsequently bulldozed, under the Group Areas Act in the 1970s, Mr Williams, his then girlfriend, and their daughter moved to Bonteheuwel where they stayed for about two-and-a-half years.
The girlfriend, whose name Mr Williams didn’t want to divulge to Athlone News, then moved to Paarl with her parents and took Angelique with her.
He said that he kept in telephonic contact with them until 2003 but lost contact with them after that. “I had a mild stroke and was in hospital for two weeks and after that we lost contact. I am hoping to find my daughter,” he said.
Mr Williams said he doesn’t remember much about his daughter but knows that she got married in 1975. Anyone with information can contact Mr Williams on 071 486 2570.
