A 28-year-old man was killed and two women were injured when they were shot at while sitting in Bokmakierie Street on Thursday March 28 at 7.30pm.
According to Athlone police spokesman Sergeant Zita Norman, a white car stopped and one man jumped out and started shooting at them. The man was shot in his chest and back, the women in their arms and torsos. Two projectiles were found at the scene. No arrests were made.
Three men were shot dead and a fourth injured in Hazendal on Saturday March 23.
Two men were walking on the corner of Kuils Road and Downing Street at 6pm when they were each shot several times from behind and were wounded in their arms, shoulders and buttocks. One of the victims was also shot in the mouth.
Police found 11 shell casings and three projectiles at the scene.
More shots rang out that same day, and just metres away, in Herbrand Street.
Two men were walking in the road at 2.30pm when they were shot at by assailants in a passing blue VW Polo, say police.
The wounded men were taken to Groote Schuur Hospital, where one of them was declared dead.
Police say it is not clear whether the two incidents are connected but the killers are still at large.
