On Friday May 6 members of Operation Combat arrested a 44-year-old man for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
While busy with high density patrolling in Manenberg, police received a tip off about a house in Cockscomb Crescent, Heideveld. Police searched the house and found a 0.22 pistol 39 rounds of ammunition. One man was arrested and charged with the possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition. He appeared in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
* On Thursday May 5, a joint operation by police and the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries led to the arrest of two men, a 30-year-old and a 40-year-old, in Riversdal Road, Crawford, for being in possession of more than 12 000 pieces of abalone with an estimated street value of R1.2 million.
The men appeared in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court on Monday May 5.
