A 32-year-old man was arrested for the possession of mandrax tablets valued at R24 000.
On Monday April 10, after police on patrol in Manenberg were tipped off about illegal drug dealing, According to the Manenberg police spokesman, Captain Ian Bennett, police searched a residence in Ghamka Road, Manenberg, where they found the stash of 400 Mandrax tablets hidden in a room and arrested a man who was on the premises.
“The suspect was alone at home during the searching of the premises,” Captain Bennett said.
“Gang violence and illegal possession of drugs remains a huge concern within the precinct,” he added.
“Sporadic shooting occurs on a daily basis but SAPS members remain committed and dedicated to fighting crime in the most vulnerable areas of the Manenberg precinct,” he said.
On the same day, Constable Mark Daniels, a member of the Flying Squad, arrested a 39-year-old man in 12th Avenue Bokmakierie, for the possession of an unlicensed 1 Norinco Star firearm with eight live rounds of ammunition while patrolling the area.
