A 30-year-old man was shot and killed, and a 36-year-old man was seriously injured in Manenberg on Monday October 15, at 7.30am.
The incident is believed to be gang-related.
According to Manenberg police spokesperson, Captain Ian Bennett, the 30-year-old was approached by four men, believed to be members of a rival gang, on the corner of Venster Street and Blauberg Road in Manenberg.
“One of the men pulled out a firearm and fired several shots at point-blank range, hitting the victim in the head and neck.
“The 30-year-old succumbed to his injuries on the scene.
“The 36-year-old man was walking with his girlfriend and according to them, they were caught in the crossfire. He was shot in his lower abdomen as he ran for cover, and was taken to Heideveld emergency centre for emergency medical treatment. The suspects fled the scene on foot and no arrest have been made,” Captain Bennett said.
Manenberg police are searching for the shooter of a 39-year-old man who was fatally wounded in gang violence on Tuesday October 9.
According to Captain Bennett, the man was chased by two men of an opposing gang from Devil’s Peak Road into Anysberg Road where he was shot twice, once in the back of his head. The suspects fled the scene on foot and no arrests have been made. A case of murder is being investigated.
