The Metro police property crimes unit arrested a man for possession of Schedule 6 prescription drugs in Athlone on Wednesday March 6.
The officers intercepted the suspect after receiving a tip-off.
The 22-year-old was carrying eight Ritalin tablets and could not provide a medical script for the drugs.
It is believed that he was on his way to a school in the southern suburbs to deliver the drugs to a client. Â
Officers also found further orders via texts on his cellphone.
Metro police spokesperson, Ruth Solomons, said, “The Metro police urge parents to be vigilant as it appears that the drug is gaining popularity among learners.”
