A 39-year-old man was killed in Humber Street, Manenberg, on Saturday January 13.
Four men had approached the man and his two sons who were walking down the road.
One man fired several shots, hitting the victim in his back and head.
He died on the scene. His teenage sons were unhurt. The four men then fled on foot. A case of murder has been opened for investigation and no arrests have been made.
In another incident in Manenberg, two men, aged 19 and 43, were left seriously injured after being shot in Linda Court on Friday January 12.
According to Manenberg police station spokesman Captain Ian Bennett, the men were shot in the neck, back and legs and were taken to Heideveld Emergency Centre for treatment. A case of attempted murder has been opened for investigation and no arrests have been made.
Manenberg police arrested a 34-year-old man for the possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition on Friday January 12.
Police were alerted to the man walking on Jakes Gerwel Road and upon searching him they found an unlicensed gun with five live rounds of ammunition in the magazine.
The man was due to appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court on Monday January 15.
Police also made various arrests on Thursday January 11 during an operation focused on gangs.
A 30-year-old man was arrested for the possession of 11 sticks of dagga in Hester Court, Heideveld; a 49-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of a parcel of dagga and his 28-year-old son for being in possession of 24 dagga sticks in Pam Court, Manenberg.
A 21-year-old woman was also arrested in Aletta Court, Manenberg, after she was searched and found with 19 mandrax tablets. Five people were arrested on various charges ranging from theft to domestic violence.
