A 23-year-old man from Manenberg died after being shot seven times on Saturday November 4.
According to Manenberg police spokesman, Captain Ian Bennett, it is alleged that the man was a member of a local gang in the area.
The man was shot by unknown gunmen who walked into his house and fired several shots at him, fatally wounding him. He died at the scene.
The suspects fled the scene and is yet to be arrested. A case of murder is being investigated.
Athlone police arrested a woman from Bridgetown on Thursday November 2 with 200 packets of tik and 13 bankies of dagga. The woman appeared in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court on Monday November 6.
On the same day a 40-year-old man was arrested after he attempted to steal a car in Athlone which belonged to a 63-year-old pensioner.
The man parked his white Nissan bakkie in George Street, Athlone and locked all his doors. When he returned, he saw an unknown man inside his bakkie. The pensioner then tried to keep him inside the bakkie while he called for help.
According to Athlone SAPS spokeswoman, Sergeant Zita Norman, the suspect had a car key on him while the complainant grabbed him to prevent him from running away.
The pensioner then heard someone telling him that the suspect was going to stab him so he quickly let go and one of the community members helped by grabbing the screwdriver from the suspect’s hand.
Two security guards then took the suspect to the police station where he was arrested.
The man appeared in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court on Monday November 6.
