Manenberg shooter behind bars

Two people were arrested in Hanover Park on charges of the illegal possession of drugs and ammunition.

Manenberg police arrested a a 27-year-old man on Wednesday October 25 for attempted murder after an 8-year-old boy was shot in his leg during rival gang crossfire in the area.

The boy was rushed to hospital for medical treatment.

The suspected shooter appeared in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court on Thursday October 26.

In another incident, Phillippi police arrested two men in Hanover Park on Monday October 23 on charges relating to the possession of drugs and ammunition.

Police arrested a 27-year-old man at his home in Lucerne Street, for being in possession of tik with a street value of R20 000. An hour later, police searched a residence in Lansport Road, Hanover Park and arrested a 17-year-old for the illegal possession of a large quantity of 9mm and shotgun rounds which had been buried in the backyard. Both suspects appeared in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court on Thursday October 26.
