* After its annual general meeting on Saturday April 23, the Muslim Judicial Council (MJC) (SA) elected a new president, secretary general, treasurer and executive council members. The two candidates standing for president were Sheikh Riad Fataar and Sheikh Irfaan Abrahams. Both candidates had been asked to do a presentation on their vision for the position of president of the MJC (SA). The voting process concluded with Sheikh Irfaan Abrahams, pictured, being elected.
