Angry residents stoned police vehicles as officers cracked down on illegal shebeens in Heideveld last week.
The rear window of a police vehicle was damaged as the officers seized alcohol and arrested a 53-year-old man at Nellie Court on Thursday May 11.
“This type of action will not be tolerated,” said Manenberg police spokesman Captain Ian Bennett.
Two men robbed a delivery man as he offloaded meat at a butchery in Klipfontein Road, Athlone, on Saturday May 13. One robber pointed a gun at the man while the other took R31 in cash from him before the two fled without firing a shot.
Two men and a woman robbed a 66-year-old man and two of his relatives at his house in Belgravia Estate, where the family had been selling herbs, on Sunday May 14.
Brandishing guns, the robbers took cash and two cellphones before fleeing in a white Polo. No shots were fired.
Manenberg police seized 100 bullets for a Tokarev pistol at a house in Thames Walk, on Tuesday May 9. Captain Bennett said the ammunition had been buried in the backyard. No arrests have been made yet.
