Police arrested four men accused of robbing a Rondebosch East shop.
The men were allegedly busy robbing Queen Bess Superette in Imam Haron Road, just after noon, on Wednesday March 11 when a passer-by alerted police on patrol in the area.
According to Lansdowne police spokesman Sergeant Nkululeko Mnyaka, two men entered the shop, one bought a cigarette and one threatened the shop owner with a gun and told him to lie down while another two men appeared and cleaned out the till.
The men left the shop but ran back in when they saw the approaching police van.

guns with serial numbers filed off, R630 cash and 40 packets of cigarettes.
Heideveld residents pelted police with stones as they arrested two men in Linda Court on Wednesday afternoon March 11.
According to Manenberg police spokesman, Captain Ian Bennett, officers chased an 18-year-old
who ran when they approached him.
As he ran, he threw a white plastic bag to a 45-year-old man who then ran away with the bag.
Officers caught and searched both men and found a knife
on the 18-year-old who then shouted to residents to attack the police.
As stones rained down on them, police fired several warning shots to disperse the crowd.
The plastic bag was not found.
Athlone police are investigating the death of Zubayr Davids who was assaulted on Sunday February 16 at about 7.30pm in Vygieskraal, Athlone.
He refused medical help from the ambulance on the day and was taken to hospital on Sunday March 1 as his condition worsened.
The doctor’s report says he had a depressed skull fracture. He died on Friday March 6.
