Rape Crisis offers training for volunteers

Applications are open for Rape Crisis Athlone’s training and development volunteer course, which starts on Tuesday February 7.

The course is focused on training volunteers to become community educators around rape.

Volunteers who have completed the course actively work towards making change by facilitating workshops, doing talks at a variety of places and training high school peer educators to become leaders who challenge rape myths and stereotypes in their schools.

The training will take place at 335A Klipfontein Road, Grassroots Building, Gatesville, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 6pm to 9pm.

The closing date for applications is Friday January 13.

Transport will be provided for those who live in Rape Crisis service areas. For more information on the course fee and financial help available, call Miles Collins on 021 447 1467.
