■ Lansdowne library hosted its annual reading competition at the Lansdowne civic centre on Thursday April 26. Three schools participated – Christel House, Belthorn and York Road primary schools. Leigh Arren Veroni from Christel House took the first prize in Afrikaans and Azile Nguni from Christel House took the first prize for English. Ward 60 councillor Mark Kleinschmidt delivered a motivational talk to the pupils, and he also sponsored the two floating trophies for the first prize winners in the English and Afrikaans categories.
