Recruitment and training of police officers remain on hold, and SAPS has warned the public not to be tricked by scams saying otherwise.
The training, which was meant to have started in January this year, will be on hold until a formal announcement by management, says Bishop Lavis police spokesman Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi.
SAPS says it had planned to recruit and train 7000 new police officers across the country, but training was suspended because of Covid-19 restrictions.
SAPS says employment in the police service is not for sale and it has warned the public not to be taken in by hoax listings promising SAPS traineeships and vacancies.
