RLabs and its partners are awarding scholarships worth R3.1 million for the GROW Leadership Academy (GLA) and has urged young people who are passionate about entrepreneurship, technology and making a difference in their community to apply for it by Friday July 8.
Since its inception in 2011, more than 700 young people have graduated from the programme in Cape Town and Johannesburg, with over 600 job opportunities accessed and graduates launching more than 50 small businesses.
The programme also launched in Iringa, Tanzania, where it equipped more than 250 young people with a strong focus on leadership, entrepreneurship, technology and agriculture.
Partners over the last few years for the GROW Leadership Academy included Omidyar Network, USAID, GivenGain, Automattic, GetSmarter and WebGrowth.
The programme is free and aimed at unemployed youth, from 18 to 25 with a Grade 11 or Grade 12 pass. It includes training in leadership, digital and online skills, creative writing, visual thinking and entrepreneurship.
It runs on a Tuesday and Thursday from 8.30am to 3.30pm, and a lunch snack, tea and coffee are provided.
To apply, visit www.grow.org.za and either complete an online application form or download one. The RLabs headquarters are at 66 Tarentaal Road, Bridgetown, Athlone or visit any of the Youth Cafes.
