Seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave – that’s the motto at the 50-year-old Habibia Junior Madressa in Rylands.
The private school celebrated its 50th anniversary, last month, unveiling a new logo. It was established in 1969, when the community noticed a need for a preschool with an Islamic ethos.
What was initially one class of only 20 pupils grew into 13 classes, including an after-care class, with more than 300 pupils.
Each class has about 26 pupils and an assistant to the teacher.
Principal Fatima Dramat-Hassan said: “Habibia Junior Madressa has humbly stood the test of time, maintaining the gold standard in preschool education in an Islamic ethos.”
She thanked the community, staff and parents for their support over the years.
The school offers extra-mural activities such as karate, KidFit, SportsHub, and speech and
drama.
Ms Hassan encouraged former pupils to contact the school to start an alumni group.
