Shooting leaves three wounded

Three men were wounded in a shooting in Vygieskraal on Friday.

According to Athlone SAPS spokeswoman, Sergeant Zita Norman, two men approached a 21-year-old man on the corner of Canal and Veld roads at about 7am.

The men shot the 21-year-old in the left arm as he fled.

Two men, aged 66 and 67, were caught in the crossfire; one was hit in his right leg, the other in his left foot.

Lloyd Dune Simbarashe, 43, was sentenced, in the Western Cape High Court on Monday March 14, to life in prison for the murder of Nikitha Lewis, 24,

Ms Lewis was stabbed multiple times by her estranged boyfriend while at a shop with her children, close to the Saartjie Baartman Centre, on Friday October 9 2015.

Simbarashe continued to stab Ms Lewis in the back as she ran for cover and in full view of the public.

Leaving her body in the shop covered in blood, he tried to flee, but the shop owner closed the doors and held him inside until the police arrived.
