Police are searching for three men who robbed Pep Stores in Gatesville last Tuesday, April 10, at about 11.30am.
Athlone police station spokeswoman Sergeant Zita Norman said two unknown men entered the shop in Klipfontein Road and walked around pretending to be customers.
One man then approached the store manager and threatened her with a gun while two men waited outside at the door.
“The one took her to the office and asked her to open the door.
“He took an undisclosed number of sealed cellphones and a case with R2 100 in it and R1 500 cash out of the till.
“They then left with the cellphones in a red bag. Two jumped into a white Citi Golf with the registration number CA 650 494 and the other one jumped into a white Toyota Corolla with the registration number CA 934 871,” said Sergeant Norman.
The store had declined to comment. No arrests have been made yet. Anyone with information can call Athlone police station on 021 697 9238 or 021 697 9239.
