Suspect nabbed with imitation firearm

Nineteen dagga stoppe were found in the suspect's room.
A 19-year-old suspect was arrested yesterday for the possession of an imitation firearm and drugs.

Metro police officers were dispatched by the Radio Control Room after CCTV cameras picked up a person running down the road with a firearm in hand.

The officers managed to find the man in Bobmakierie. But he did not have the firearm on him.

He then took the officers to his house, where the owner consented to the search.

Metro police spokesperson, Ruth Solomons, said: “Officers found an imitation firearm and 19 dagga stoppe in the suspect’s room.”

He was arrested and detained at Athlone police station.
