Police have arrested three men following a shootout and a robbery at a Bridgetown store.
Three men entered the Cornflower Street shop at about 8pm on Tuesday May 28, and one of them threatened the two shopkeepers with a gun.
The robbers pistol-whipped the shop owner over the head, then took three boxes of cigarettes worth R14 000 and a R3000 cellphone, according to Athlone police spokeswoman Sergeant Zita Norman.
There was a shootout as Flying Squad officers pursued the suspects, one of whom was wounded.
The stolen property was recovered.
