YoungPeople@Work, an organisation which aims to empower unemployed youth to access employment, is hosting a free youth empowerment week at Grassroots (opposite Elite supermarket) in Gatesville on Tuesday May 24, Wednesday May 25, and Thursday May 26.
Participants will be trained in professional job seeking, basic office administration and bookkeeping skills. A free introduction to computers will also be presented. Participants will learn how to search for jobs professionally, how to develop a powerful Curriculum Vitae (CV), what companies are looking for, interview skills, how the job market operates, how to network with the right people, how to use social media in the job search process and to develop a job search plan.
They will also be informed about the latest employment and further study opportunities that exist for unemployed youth.
Among those involved in this event are Northlink College, Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator, Dreamworker, Career Planet, RLabs Social Media Academy and the Department of Labour.
YoungPeople@ Work volunteers will help with free CV design and free email accounts and certificates will be issued. Participants must take their own lunch. Tea and coffee will be served. To book, contact Clothilda Petersen at 084 648 8517 or Shirley de Jongh at 074 350 8582.
