Two men died over the past weekend in separate incidents in Manenberg.
On Sunday February 19, at 5.10am, a 24-year-old man was fatally shot while allegedly on his way to buy drugs in Stormsriver Road.
Several shots were fired at him, fatally wounding him in the neck and chest. The suspects fled and the man died on the scene.
On Friday February 17, the body of a 40-year-old man was found on the foot bridge connecting Bonteheuwel to Manenberg.
Members of Manenberg police were called to the scene in the Heidevled area. They found the victim face down with a bullet wound to the head.
According to Captain Ian Bennett, spokesman of Manenberg police, it is alleged that the man had an argument with members of a gang in Bonteheuwel.
“They chased him towards the foot bridge firing shots at him. He managed to walk across the bridge into Heideveld leaving a blood trail showing the distance he walked before he collapsed.”
The suspects fled the scene and a case of murder has been opened for investigation.
