Youth who are part of the Leaders’ Quest programme took time from their school holidays to help others for Mandela Day. They made 300 sandwiches for homeless shelters, knitted squares for blankets to be distributed to Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital, and covered donated books for school libraries. The two-year programme by Life Choices, a non-profit organisation, helps Grade 11 and 12 pupils from the Cape Flats by teaching them leadership and improving their academic performance.
