Matrics will start their final exams on Monday October 21, and this year, 170 matrics from Modderdam High School in Bonteheuwel will take part in the Hope for the Future Foundation’s fourth annual Kings & Queens Matric Breakfast.
Breakfast is a very important meal to get your day started, hence the reason for providing the class of 2024 with a buffet sit-down breakfast to fill them before they enter the exam hall.
Our pupils come from poverty-stricken families and don’t even have breakfast at home. This is where we, as Hope for the Future, make sure there are no growling or empty stomachs.
Imagine a child coming to write on an empty stomach, and some didn’t even have anything to eat the previous evening. This is not just about giving them a meal; it is about encouraging and motivating them and giving them a brief moment to forget about the stress of exams.
This year’s breakfast is for double the number of matrics that we have helped over the past three years, and we can do it with your support.
We provide the décor, crockery, cutlery and glassware, along with a photo booth, but we need muffin mix, pancake mix, flour, sugar, milk, eggs, salt, yeast, baking powder, pumpkin, cereals, viennas, chicken livers, penny polony, sausage, cheese, onions, tomatoes, avocados, baked beans, sauces, juices, fruit and yoghurt.
