Their 6-5 win against Van der Stel on Saturday was their seventh in 16 matches this season. In fact, it was their third win in a row after they started their season in a dismal fashion.
Bothasig Knights and Bellville Tygers have been the top two sides in the league for a while and A’s is one team below the two giants capable of challenging for CTBF supremacy. The team possesses some firepower in both their batting and pitching units.
Dean Jacobs is one of the most senior and experienced players in the side, having also played at national level. In order to keep up the competitive culture of the side, A’s have invested a lot of their time in the development of junior players. The aim is to keep the A’s legacy alive and competitive for years to come. That would be beneficial to A’s, the CTBF and the game of baseball in the country.
Currently, the under-15s are making good progress in the juniors and have been rewarded for their consistency by having two players selected for the Western Cape Baseball Federation side that will take part in the National Baseball Championships.
Uzair Taliep and Jack Campbell are the two players leading the wave of new superstars coming through the ranks of A’s and have earned their provincial colours for their efforts.
The duo and their teammates currently occupy top spot in the under-15 championship after five rounds. What makes their effort even more impressive is the fact that three of the games they won were on the road.
