A woman died yesterday when her Manenberg home caught fire in the early hours of the morning.
City Fire and Rescue spokesman Theo Layne said the house in Irvine Street caught alight at 1.01am.
Four wendy houses at the back of the house were all destroyed in the fire, leaving 14 people homeless and a neighbouring house was also damaged.
Twenty-four firefighters in four fire engines, a water tanker and a rescue vehicle took just under 90 minutes to extinguish the blaze.
“The cause of the fire is undetermined,” Mr Layne said, adding that police were investigating.
