Police are searching for two men who hijacked an Uber driver in Bridgetown.
Athlone police spokeswoman Sergeant Zita Norman said the driver picked up two men in Kalkoen Road on Friday May 24, at about 4.40am
One of the men took out a knife and stabbed the driver in the shoulder. The driver jumped out the Toyota Etios, and the men drove off in the vehicle. They are still at large.
Police arrested two Heideveld women, aged 28 and 41, on Thursday May 23, for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Manenberg police spokesman Captain Ian Bennett said officers found a loaded Astra 45mm pistol under a bed at the Susan Court home. The pistol’s serial number had been removed.
Manenberg police arrested an 18-year-old man on Wednesday May 22 for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Captain Bennett said Greenhaven Neighbourhood Watch spotted a man, walking at the bridge in Durr Road at about 4pm, whom they believed was targeting school pupils.
The watch followed the man as he ran towards Portavue Primary School. Carrying a loaded gun, he evaded them by running down the roads between the houses before being cornered in Rainer Road, still armed with the gun.
