Police are hunting two men who shot five people, killing two, in Ruth Court, Manenberg, in the early hours of Monday August 17.
According to the station’s spokesman, Captain Ian Bennett, the shooters posed as police officers, and when a 29-year-old woman opened the door, they shot her in her upper body.
They then shot two men aged 22 and 25, who died at the scene, and a 27-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man who were taken to hospital.
Manenberg police are also searching for perpetrators who fired several shots into a wendy house in Lydia Mzamane Street, Tambo Village, on Friday August 21, at about 1am, wounding a 24-year-old woman and a 4-year-old girl.
A gunman shot two men, aged 19 and 26, on Tuesday August 18, at 1.20pm. The 26-year-old was walking from the shop on the corner of Towerkop and Easter roads when he was hit in the head, and the 19-year-old, who was walking by, was hit in the face. Both were taken to Heideveld Emergency Centre.
Police arrested a 19-year-old man for possession of an illegal firearm after searching a house in Letaba Road, Manenberg, on Wednesday August 19, at 9am. The officers allegedly found a 38 revolver hidden in the roof.
Bishop Lavis police are looking for two men who shot at police during a search for illegal guns in Bonteheuwel on Sunday August 16.
According to the station’s spokesman, Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, police were searching the area for illegal guns at around 9pm when two men opened fire on their van on the corner of Mulberry and Plumbago streets, Bonteheuwel. The perpetrators fled and no injuries were sustained.
