Yusuf Karriem (Mualliem), Heideveld
We live in strenuous and difficult times. For many, options are slim, and sometimes there’s no easy way out.
We strive to raise our sons and daughters to live good lives, and we try to make things special for them.
Saturday June 25, was special for Nurul Mubeen Madrassah, in Heideveld.
The Mustadafin Foundation took all the students by the hand to shop for new clothes for Eid, and they could choose their own outfits.
This generosity was a source of much happiness for the children. You could see real smiles crinkle up their eyes. What is also real is sweet compassion and how to treat others with respect. In our downtrodden communities, this is charity, the practice of Islam that can never be followed up with injury or harsh treatment to those who receive it. Even in this cold winter chill, there’s a chance of something blossoming.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Gairunisa Johnstone Cassiem, for going the extra mile and for always being part of the answer.
I’m thankful to the sponsors and the remarkable people at Mustadafin. They want to help change our situation.
They have a heavenly vision that gives wings to their famous call that, “If every man helps his neighbour, then who will need help?”.
