Thirty-six children enjoyed an Easter egg hunt at the Christine Revell Children’s Home in Athlone last week.
Frogfoot, a company that provides fibre infrastructure, hosted the Easter egg hunt last Thursday, April 14, with frog mascots, a petting zoo with live animals, and bags filled luxuries for the children to enjoy. Frogfoot also hosted 20 other Easter egg hunts at children’s homes around the country over the Easter period.
Regional manager Matthew Clarke, said in many communities children didn’t have the luxury of being spoilt on Easter.
“A lot of people have lost what it means to celebrate Easter, especially the children at these homes so we thought that it was a good idea to give back to them. We really like the work that they do so we thought that Christine Revell was a good choice,” he said.
Annaline Scholtz, assistant manager at the Christine Revell Children’s Home, said the children were extremely excited to see new faces because no visits had been allowed during the Covid-19 lockdowns. She said that it was important for businesses to give back in this way because the home, which is a non-profit organisation, needed the help from sponsors.
“Whenever anyone wants to give back, we always open our doors because it really means a lot to us. Our children appreciate and enjoy it so much,” she said.
The day was also filled with face painting, jumping on the jumping castle, and a magician.
