Donations of non-perishable food and clothing for families in need will be the “ticket” granting entry to the eighth annual Athlone Nantes Summer Festival Concert.
The event, held at the Nantes Park outdoor amphitheatre in Bridgetown, from noon to 8pm on Friday December 16, is hosted by the Bridgetown Theatre Company and the City of Cape Town.
The line-up includes the bands Just Us, The Pilots, Groove Zone, Encore, and The Fantastics; The Rosa Choir (both senior and junior choirs); the 021 Rebels and Vortex dance groups; dancers Ethan Play, Damian Cornelius, and Ryan Brown; singer Jonathan January; and the Bridgetown Theatre Company’s senior and junior dancers. There will also be a variety of food and novelty stalls.
“We are encouraging people to bring their blankets and picnic baskets and sit on the grass banks next to the tranquil river and enjoy a fantastic afternoon of great music and entertainment in the idyllic surroundings of nature with the beautiful Table Mountain as a backdrop,” said the theatre company’s Zelda Hintsa.
Searches will be done to keep alcohol, drugs, dangerous implements and glass bottles out of the park.
