A charity concert is to raise urgently needed food donations for a Crawford children’s home.
The public are being asked to support the concert in aid of Leliebloem House and take groceries or a tin of food for the home’s 60 boys and girls.
The home needs R20 000 a month to feed the children.
Keep it 100, a youth organisation, and Restoring Hope, a Retreat-based non-profit, are organising the event.
Donations can include porridge, milk, fish oil, sugar, rice, bread, margarine, sandwich spreads, tea bags, coffee, eggs, pasta, vegetables, fruit, meat, fish and chicken.
The home’s Carla Stewart, said the concert would feature comedian Sherazaan Cummings and other local talent.
The home’s children get three meals a day, including bread and snacks for school and food hampers when they visit their families at weekends and during school holidays.
“The cost of living is excruciating, and we need all the help we can receive to continue providing the necessary services to vulnerable children at risk,” Ms Stewart said.
Dale Hendricks, the director of Restoring Hope, said they held a fun day at the home every year, including games and lunch for the children.
The concert will be at the Protea Hall Archery Club in Retreat on Saturday March 9, at 8pm. Pre-sold tickets are R50 and tickets sold at the door are R60. Food and snacks will be on sale. Call Leliebloem House at 021 697 4947 for details.
