Rylands High School Grade 11 pupil Jesse Hendricks, right has received a mayoral civic award. Jesse has been on the school’s representative council of learners for three years and is the president of the school’s charity organisation and head of its history society. He coaches the netball team, is part of the school’s Green Revolution environmental club and entrepreneurship society. He also formed a heritage committee, which is working on declaring the school a heritage site, and helped to establish a Christian organisation. Ward councillor Aslam Cassiem, middle, and Marvin Sampson, left, from the mayor’s office, handed over his trophy and R2000 prize money on Tuesday October 17.
