The City of Cape Town’s health department has had to close its clinic in Silvertown until further notice, after a fire broke out at the facility just after 4am on Friday February 28.
Dr Zahid Badroodien, mayoral committee member for community services and health, said the department would have to conduct an assessment to determine the extent of the damage.
In the meantime, the City has asked clients to report to the Hazendal clinic, while TB clients are advised to use the Heideveld clinic until Silvertown is operational again.The City apologised for any inconvenience caused.
Spokesperson for the City’s Fire and Rescue Service, Jermaine Carelse, said the cause of the fire has not been determined yet.
