Philippi police arrested five men and a 17-year-old boy for the illegal possession of guns and bullets in three incidents over two days.
The 17-year-old was caught with a 9mm Vector pistol in Lansry Walk, Hanover Park, on Friday October 13, at about 5pm, according to Philippi police spokesman Captain Lance Goliath.
Police arrested four men aged 26 to 34 after pulling over a white Toyota Corolla in Weltevrede Road, Philippi, at about 6.45am on Saturday October 14, and finding a 9mm Norinco pistol and bullets in the vehicle.
The gun’s serial number had been filed off, said Captain Goliath.
Later, at 1pm, police arrested a 40-year-old man at Augulus Court, Hanover Park, and confiscated a revolver with the serial number filed off and bullets.
