A 24-year-old man was arrested in Bonteheuwel yesterday after he was found with a firearm and live ammunition minutes after he had allegedly shot and killed another man.
Two constables were at the Bonteheuwel Metro police headquarters when they heard shots.
They saw the suspect cross the road and gave chase.
As they waited for him to come around a corner, he ran into them with the firearm still in his hand.
The suspect was arrested and a Browning pistol and eight rounds of ammunition were confiscated.
It is unclear if the incident is gang related.
The man was taken to Bishop Lavis police station. Police are investigating the matter.
