A man’s body was found in the boot of an abandoned car in Melkhout Street, Bonteheuwel, on Tuesday April 24.
The man was identified as Paddy Schuller, who lived in Thornton.
According to Bishop Lavis SAPS station commander, Brigadier Christopher Jones, the cause of the man’s death had not been determined yet, but officers on the scene said the man appeared to have been assaulted.
“At this stage, we are awaiting the pathologist’s report. I cannot say whether he was the owner of the vehicle, but we traced it to an address where his family lives. No arrests have been made,” Brigadier Jones said.
Ward 50 councillor, Angus Mckenzie, said an hour before the car and body were found, the car was seen in a secluded area of Bonteheuwel.
“The details remain sketchy. An hour earlier, through our Triangle project, the vehicle was seen in a secluded area of Bonteheuwel and reported to me. A while later the vehicle was found abandoned with the body of a male occupant inside of it,” Mr Mckenzie said.
