A dance coach from Set4Dance Community Outreach made a video of himself dancing to a song about Covid-19 and how it is affecting people.
Ignatius Pastor, 35, from Portland, said he made the video because he was inspired by Canadian rapper Tom MacDonald’s song Coronavirus, about the coronavirus pandemic.
“At this time we could not teach our children at the dance school. I gave them all a task, to post a video in our WhatsApp group where they needed to choose a song and mention why they chose the song in the clip. As a choreographer I took full advantage of Covid-19 for my contribution towards the task,” he said.
Set4dance Community Outreach, based at the Mitchell’s Plain Indoor Sports and Recreation Centre in Portland, was established in 2014, he said.
“I have been dancing for over 25 years. When I started dancing, it used to be in the streets.”
Today the children inspire him to keep pushing. “I see the struggle of many in the community. The children’s parents in my studio play a big role in their lives and mine. It will always be about the children,” he said.
