Children learned more about Ramadaan, the Muslim month of fasting, at Al-Ikhlaas Academia Library and Resource Centre, in Lansdowne, on Saturday May 4. Joined by Madina Institute Islamic Sciences’ students doing community service, the children listened to stories, played games, coloured in and watched a cartoon. The monthly programme is called Qur’an Stories for Little Hearts as part of Madina Kids in association with the resource centre. It is led by Dr Fatima Hendricks, a Madina Institute alumna from 2015.
The centre will hold its Ramadaan Lecture Series every Sunday, including Adnaan Rashied on “The real age of Bibi Ayesha (RA)” on May 19; Sheikh Sadulla Khan on “Imam Haron, the spiritual guide”; and Fatima Essop on “The status of women in Islam versus their lived reality” on June 2. On Sunday May 12 Nouman Ali Khan spoke about “Al-Quran as Al Kitaab”.
