Bishop Lavis SAPS arrested two people in Bonteheuwel over the weekend in separate incidents, involving drugs and the illegal possession of a firearm.
While SAPS and Law Enforcement were on patrol on Sunday April 9, gunshots were heard in the T Block. Ward councillor Angus McKenzie said after residents’ description, a 23-year-old man was arrested.
He was found in possession of a 9mm pistol and six rounds of ammunition.
Earlier, Bishop Lavis SAPS swooped on a well-known drug house in Camelia Street, Bonteheuwel. This after receiving a community tip-off. A 41-year-old woman was arrested for being in the possession of mandrax tablets, sachets of tik, as well as cash.
“Cleaning up Bonteheuwel from drugs and guns remains our consistent goal, and achieving that goal as a community, we must work together. In Bonteheuwel, we pride ourselves on the relationship that exists between Law Enforcement and SAPS and my office tip-off line. It has proven to link the community to much-eeded policing, quicker response times, and ensuring we build a safer, more peaceful Bonteheuwel,” Mr McKenzie said.
