Manenberg police arrested two men, aged 29 and 37, for possession of a firearm and ammunition on Thursday April 19.
The two men were arrested after they were found in a backyard in Pecos Walk, where police conducted a search and found the firearm buried in the yard. The pair appeared in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court on Monday April 23.
Police are also looking for a man who was in possession of a gun on the corner of Plate Road and Rio Grande Walk Manenberg, on Thursday April 19. While patrolling the area, police saw men standing in Red River Walk, one of whom had a firearm in his hands.
He pointed the firearm at the police and ran away. He dropped the gun when police gave chase.
A case of possession of a firearm has been opened for investigation.
On the same day, another 24-year-old man was arrested for the possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Police were driving down Lillian Walk when they saw two men who started to run.
One of the men threw a firearm on top of the roof as they fled.
He was, however, arrested and the firearm recovered from the roof.
The suspect appeared in the Athlone Magistrates Court on Monday April 23.
